Microsoft proposes an Xbox Mobile Gaming Store

Microsoft is planning to create an Xbox mobile store that can be accessed from a user’s phone. The software behemoth recently acquired Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion to help with the development of its mobile gaming store.

Microsoft plans to build an Xbox Mobile Gaming Store

According to the filings, “Xbox will strive to scale the Xbox shop to mobile phones, drawing gamers to a new Xbox Mobile Platform” is an example of how the company plans to capitalize on the existing communities of gamers already present in Activision Blizzard’s existing games.

Although the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is looking at the Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft said, “The Transaction will boost Microsoft’s capacity to establish a next-generation gaming shop which will operate across a number of devices, including mobile.”

The CMA is worried that Microsoft’s increased control over companies as a result of its ownership of Call of Duty and Candy Crush popular mobile games will give them power in the gaming market, and this shows that the software giant has come prepared to compete with its rivals in the business, namely, Google play store and App Store.
