The New LG Gram-Style Laptop Is Stylish and Hides Its Touchpad

LG’s Gram laptop line may be under the radar at the moment, but the company never fails to impress with innovative designs, dependable performance, and lengthy battery life. In addition, LG has revealed two additional versions to the range, the Gram Ultraslim, and the Gram Style, during the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

When closed, the Gram Ultraslim 15Z90RT is only 11 millimeters thick, making it the thinnest Gram ever, and it only weighs 998 grams (2.2 pounds). LG managed to fit in a new Intel 13th-gen Core processor, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 1TB solid-state drive despite the size and weight of the device. It also sports a 15.6-inch, Full HD (1080p) OLED screen.

The Gram Style 14 (14Z90RS) and 16 (16Z90RS) inch laptops similarly feature OLED panels, however, their aspect ratios are 16:10 rather than 16:9 like the Ultraslim’s. The larger screen provides a little extra vertical real estate. The resolution of the 16-inch screen is 3,200×2,000 pixels, while that of the 14-inch screen is 2,880×1,800. While the internals is identical to those found in the Ultraslim, the Ultraslim 2 and Ultraslim 2 XL have larger batteries to meet the demands of their higher-resolution OLED displays.

Given its name, you may guess that the Style has a slicker aesthetic than the typical Gram notebook. According to LG’s press release, the devices’ glass tops let the chassis color sparkle and alter dynamically. In addition to the standard mouse button, the laptops also feature a haptic touchpad that is illuminated by LEDs when touched.

In addition, LG will upgrade the hardware in its 14- and 16-inch Gram convertibles and 14-, 15-, 16-, and 17-inch Gram laptops to 13th-generation Intel Core CPUs this year. Gram’s 16- and 17-inch notebooks will be the first to ship with Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 3050 graphics processing unit (GPU), which is suitable for light gaming and content creation.

LG’s website has further information about the new models. LG, meanwhile, has not said when or how much its new and improved versions would cost.
