Twitter to add mention control

Users will soon be able to manage and restrict who can mention them on Twitter. Users can protect their privacy and avoid being targeted by trolls by selectively mentioning people and preventing their own accounts from being mentioned. Hopefully, this will help reduce the prevalence of harassment and bullying on the site, making it a better overall experience.

Twitter to roll out new feature that lets you control your mentions

‘Twitter is allowing you to regulate who can mention you on Twitter,’ reads a post by privacy expert Jane Manchun Wong.

Twitter hasn’t said when they’ll launch the functionality, though.

However, if the corporation decides to implement this feature, it will safeguard the mental health of a large number of people, not just popular celebrities.
